About the Role

The Fort McKay First Nation is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to fill the Supervisor, Lands and Leasing position. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Lands and Leasing unit, ensuring the effective management of our reserve lands and resources.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and lead a team of lands and leasing employees, providing guidance and support to ensure the successful completion of projects and tasks.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the annual budget for the Lands and Leasing unit, ensuring effective financial management and resource allocation.
  • Oversee the implementation of the Fort McKay First Nation Land Code, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including contractors, tenants, and interest holders, to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Prepare and submit reports to the Executive team, providing regular updates on the Lands and Leasing unit's projects and initiatives.
  • Attend meetings and workshops as required, staying up-to-date on industry developments and best practices.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as land and resource management, land use planning, or business administration.
  • Minimum of five to seven years of relevant experience in land management or land use planning/development, with at least three years of experience specific to First Nation or Indigenous reserves.
  • Previous experience supervising/leading a team is required.
  • Strong computer skills and ability to learn new software applications and platforms.
  • Clean Criminal Record Check and valid class five Driver's License required.
