About the Role

The Commercial Banking Engineering team at Scotiabank is seeking a highly skilled Business Systems Analyst to join our dynamic team focused on the development of Commercial Banking Software. As a Business Systems Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between business needs and technology solutions, ensuring the successful delivery of software projects that meet the requirements of bankers and financial institutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including Bankers, Product Owners, Engineers, and Testers, to gather and analyze business requirements for Commercial Banking Software focused on the Client Onboarding domain.
  • Conduct thorough business process analysis to identify opportunities for improvement, streamline workflows, and enhance system functionality.
  • Translate business requirements into clear and concise functional and technical specifications, user stories, and system design documents.
  • Work closely with development teams to ensure that business requirements are accurately interpreted and implemented during the software development lifecycle.
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration between business stakeholders and technical teams to resolve issues, address concerns, and ensure project alignment with business objectives.
  • Provide ongoing support and assistance to business users during software implementation, training, and post-implementation phases.
  • Proactively identify risks, issues, and dependencies that may impact project timelines or deliverables, and collaborate with stakeholders to develop mitigation strategies.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by providing feedback, sharing knowledge, and proposing enhancements to existing processes, tools, and methodologies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Proven experience as a Business Systems Analyst or similar role, preferably in the banking or financial services industry.
  • Strong understanding of Commercial Banking processes, products, and systems, with knowledge of core banking platforms and financial instruments.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in gathering and documenting business requirements, creating functional specifications, and performing business process analysis.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with keen attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality solutions.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, managing multiple priorities and adapting to changing requirements.
  • Experience with Agile software development methodologies and tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence) is preferred.
  • Certification in Business Analysis (e.g., CBAP, CCBA) is a plus.
