Journeyman Plumber Job Description

At Johnson Controls, we are seeking a skilled Journeyman Plumber to join our team in Edmonton. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing plumbing and HVAC systems in our manufacturing facilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Install commercial and in-house produced plumbing assemblies into in-process HVAC equipment.
  • Review blueprints and specifications to ensure drawings and specifications will function as designed.
  • Tend to plumbing, air, and vacuum issues to keep production equipment running.
  • Participate in construction and remodeling projects involving plumbing, air conditioning, or gas fitting changes and/or additions.
  • Maintain and perform preventative maintenance programs for plumbing, heating, and air conditioning, and air and vacuum related equipment.
  • Propose changes or modifications to plans to enhance production and efficiency of systems.
  • Assist in training, directing, and supervision of junior employees and apprentices.
  • Perform plumbing inventory and order parts as required.
  • Review coding accuracy of assigned builds.
  • Provide technical assistance and emergency response services to existing facilities.
  • Set up and test finished HVAC equipment for proper performance.
  • Keep detailed and accurate maintenance reports and safety documentation.
Requirements:
  • Completion of college/CEGEP/vocational or technical training preferred.
  • Appropriate credentials and certifications, including Industrial Plumber Trade Certification and working towards an Industrial Plumber Red Seal Certificate.
  • Ability to work independently in a busy environment.
  • Experience with routine maintenance operations.
  • Highly flexible with solid interpersonal skills.
  • Able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Able to work well under pressure.
  • Strong attention to detail.
Working Conditions:
  • Year-round work with various shifts available.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50lb.
  • Adherence to safety policies and wearing protective equipment.
  • Overtime as required.
