Job Summary

Johnson Controls is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Fire Protection System Apprentice to join our team. As a key member of our fire protection team, you will assist in the installation, maintenance, and inspection of fire suppression systems for commercial and industrial applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the installation and maintenance of fire suppression systems, including wet, dry, pre-action, and deluge systems.
  • Perform routine inspections and testing of fire suppression systems to ensure they are functioning properly.
  • Assist in the repair and replacement of fire suppression system components, including pipes, valves, and accessories.
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Document all work performed and maintain accurate records.
  • Collaborate with experienced technicians to learn and develop skills.
  • Participate in ongoing training and education to stay up-to-date on the latest technologies and techniques.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Apprentices at all levels are eligible to apply.
  • Must be willing to join the UA 170 Vancouver Union.
  • Minimum of 18 years of age.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to work well with others and in a team environment.
  • Physical ability to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • UA 170 Vancouver Union membership in good standing.

This position is subject to the terms of a Collective Agreement. The current pay rates for apprentices are as follows:

1st year: Starting rate of $24.84

2nd year: Starting rate of $31.61

3rd year: Starting rate of $36.13

4th year: Starting rate of $40.64
