Job Description

The successful candidate will report to Senior Legal Counsel, Corporate & Commercial, and be responsible for:

  • Providing expert advice to BDO's service lines across Canada on commercial contracts and transaction documents.
  • Advising the business on key contractual terms, assessing legal and business risk within the context of Firm policy and market practice.
  • Continuously developing and improving upon contracting processes, resources, and precedents.
  • Driving innovation and contributing to process improvements using digital tools and strategies.
Salary and Benefits

The estimated salary for this position is $120,000 - $180,000 per year, depending on experience. In addition to a competitive total cash compensation package, we offer flexible benefits, a market-leading personal time off policy, and opportunities for learning and development.

Requirements and Qualifications

We are seeking a member in good standing of the Law Society of Ontario with 2-4 years of experience gained from a leading law firm or in-house legal department in corporate and commercial law. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Superior academic credentials.
  • An ability to communicate, draft and negotiate agreements at an advanced level in French (asset).
  • Persuasive communication skills and the ability to interact with individuals at all levels, both in the legal and business communities.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively present legal opinions, arguments and information in a clear manner.
  • Excellent time management, prioritization and organizational skills to effectively manage a high volume of files and projects with competing deadlines.
