Nurse Specialist
As a Nurse Specialist at PHSA, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the development and implementation of nursing practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct patient care by implementing care plans and collaborating with the healthcare team to evaluate patient-centered care.
- Plan direct care for patients by reviewing patient/family history, developing care plans, and meeting with the healthcare team to discuss and review care plans.
- Maintain patient records by collecting and documenting information, including healthcare information, nursing observations, telephone communications, interventions, teaching, and care evaluations.
- Teach patients, family members, or caregivers by providing and explaining information, demonstrating procedures and equipment use, checking learners' use of procedures, techniques, and equipment, and evaluating the effectiveness of teaching methods.
- Participate in the orientation and continuing education of nursing staff and students by preceptoring and mentoring.
- Identify own learning needs, review them with the Program Manager or designate, and engage in learning activities to meet these needs, such as attending in-services.
Requirements:
- Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- One (1) year of recent, related experience in the designated clinical area and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
