About the Opportunity

Vaco is seeking an experienced Interim Director Tax to join our team. As a key member of our tax department, you will be responsible for preparing IFRS tax accounting provisions and notes to financial statements for year-end financial statements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare IFRS tax accounting provisions and notes to financial statements for year-end financial statements
  • Review uncertain tax positions, analysis of taxes payable accounts as well as other SOX related reporting requirements
  • Assist in the coordination of Canadian Tax Return Compliance with external tax provider
  • Reconciliation of Income Tax, Deferred Tax, Capital Tax and other tax account reconciliations and roll-forwards by entity on a monthly basis.
  • Assist with tax audits when appropriate and liaise with external auditors.
  • Assist in review of tax impact of accounting pronouncements and/or business transactions
  • Assist/prepare forecast of effective tax rate and deferred tax balances
  • Assist in other ad-hoc tax projects as required
Requirements:
  • University degree in a related field
  • US GAAP/IFRS knowledge
  • 8+ years Canadian tax accounting experience
  • Knowledge of legislation and statutory requirements – i.e. IFRS, Income Tax Act
  • Experience in preparing or reviewing Canadian Corporate tax returns (Tax prep software)
  • Excellent organizational, multi –tasking, time management, interpersonal skills and problem solving skills
  • Proven verbal and written communication skills
  • Has initiative and a positive attitude
  • Reliable to meet deadlines and commitments
  • Research and information gathering skills
  • Strong Computer skills including Excel
