Company Overview: Forbes Bros. Group of Companies is a leading provider of powerline construction services in the Edmonton, Alberta region.

Salary: The estimated annual salary for this position is between $70,000 to $110,000 depending on experience.

Job Description: We are seeking a highly skilled Powerline Technician - Distribution and Transmission Specialist to join our team based out of Edmonton, Alberta. The successful candidate will have a valid Journeyperson certificate and previous experience working in the distribution and transmission industry as a powerline technician.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lives by Forbes Bros. values: To ensure workplace safety and never compromise on safety in all aspects of daily activities.
  • Daily Site Hazards Assessment: Understand daily activities, assess site hazards, eliminate or control hazards, and communicate to all workers on site.
  • Powerline Installation and Maintenance: Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair power lines and cables that run between distribution electrical systems, towers, and poles.
  • Pole and Tower Assembly: Assemble, erect, and maintain steel, wood, or concrete poles, towers, and guy wires.
  • Splicing and Insulation: Splice, solder, and insulate conductors and related wiring to connect power distribution networks.
  • Maintenance and Repair: Maintain and repair overhead and underground power lines and cables, and other associated equipment such as insulators, conductors, lightning arrestors, switches, transformers, and lighting systems.
  • OHS Compliance: Adhere to Forbes Bros. Occupational Health and Safety rules and regulations.
  • Working at Heights: Work from heights and confined spaces.
  • Climbing and Tool Usage: Climb different types of structures and possess the necessary tools to do so.

Required Skills and Qualifications: A Journeyperson Certificate/Red Seal Certificate, minimum three years' experience working in the trade, knowledge of Distribution and Transmission system preferred. Valid Class 5 Driver's License required, Class 3 an asset. Ability to work in field/site with travel and work hour flexibility to accommodate remote/site work schedules.
