About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Cleaner and Early Childhood Educator to join our team at Zida Academy. As a Cleaner and Early Childhood Educator, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment for our students, as well as supporting the educational programs and activities of our early childhood educators.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cleaning and Maintenance: Sweep, mop, wash and polish floors, dust furniture, vacuum carpeting, area rugs, draperies and upholstered furniture, and clean, disinfect and polish kitchen and bathroom fixtures and appliances.
  • Supporting Early Childhood Educators: Assist in carrying out programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children, prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods.
  • Health and Safety: Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security and well-being of children, establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children.
  • Administrative Tasks: Order supplies and equipment, handle and report lost and found items, pick up debris and empty trash containers.
Requirements
  • Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in a related field.
  • Certifications: Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate, First Aid Certificate, CPR Certificate, Emergency child care first aid and CPR.
  • Personal Qualities: Punctuality, client focus, dependability, efficient interpersonal skills, excellent oral and written communication, flexibility, initiative, judgement, reliability, team player, values and ethics, interpersonal awareness.
