Job SummaryAt Johnson Controls, we are seeking a skilled Craftsman Painter to join our team. As a key member of our industrial coatings team, you will be responsible for applying protective and decorative coatings to a variety of metal surfaces and products.
Key Responsibilities
- Tend and operate equipment used to spray or coat products, applying protective or decorative coats.
- Prepare and apply stencils, decals, and other decorative items on the finished product.
- Read and interpret blueprints, ensuring accurate application of coatings.
- Inspect surfaces for contamination prior to application of paint, maintaining a clean and safe working environment.
- Apply high-performance protective coatings to metal surfaces, assemblies, and structures.
- Utilize knowledge of chemical application techniques to achieve optimal results.
- Paint using one or a combination of spray, brush, and roll techniques.
- Select and mix the appropriate paint for each application.
- Clean equipment and perform routine maintenance as needed.
- Perform all duties in accordance with Johnson Controls' safety program standards and Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulations, and Code.
Requirements
- Completion of college/vocational or technical training in a related field is an asset.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience working as an industrial painter in a manufacturing setting.
- Previous experience painting sheet metal is required.
- Experience using a spray gun is essential.
- WHMIS Certification is mandatory.
- Ability to work independently and effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
- Must be able to carry and move equipment and/or supplies in excess of 25 pounds.
- Must be able to distinguish colors.
