Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Physiotherapist to join our team at Fraser Health. As a Physiotherapist, you will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and monitoring physiotherapy treatment to patients/residents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provides clinical physiotherapy treatment, including assessment, problem identification, setting treatment goals, treatments, and re-evaluation of patients/residents.
  • Educates patients/residents and their families in aspects of the physiotherapy treatment.
  • Obtains patient/resident history from chart, interviews, and observation, as well as information provided at patient/resident conferences and team meetings.
  • Makes recommendations for treatment to ensure quality patient/resident care.
  • Delegates components of treatment to Assistants/Aides by instructing, observing, and monitoring treatment provided to ensure quality patient/resident care.
  • Provides input to the Chief Physiotherapist for the performance evaluation of the Assistants/Aides.
  • Promotes awareness of good body mechanics to facility staff, patients/residents, and families by methods such as modeling, making presentations, and acting as a resource to staff, patients/residents, and/or families.
  • Maintains patient/resident records, clinical outcome measures, and statistical data in accordance with department, facility, and professional standards.
  • Participates in development, implementation, and evaluation of the physiotherapy service by providing input and feedback to the Chief Physiotherapist regarding philosophy, goals, objectives, policies, procedures, continuous quality improvement, and risk management.
  • Participates in interdisciplinary, departmental, and professional development to ensure awareness of current developments of evidence-based physiotherapy practice.
  • Provides instruction, feedback, and supervision to students as required.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an approved school of Physiotherapy from an accredited university.
  • Current full registration with the College of Physical Therapists of British Columbia (CPTBC) and eligible for membership in the Physiotherapy Association of British Columbia (PABC).
  • Basic knowledge of evidence-based clinical practice related to designated clinical area.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess and treat diversity of conditions commonly seen in the relevant area of practice.
  • Broad knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in client care.
  • Demonstrated ability to function as a team member.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and clients both one-on-one and in groups.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in collaboration with others.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide effective consultation.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish workload priorities in collaboration with others in a complex health care environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to recognize when referral to another health care professional is required.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
  • Demonstrated skill in the use of equipment, and in the techniques appropriate physical therapy treatment.
  • Basic computer literacy.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the College of Physical Therapists of British Columbia standards for practice of physical therapy.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively deal with conflict situations.
