City Manager Job Description
**About the City Manager Role**
The City Manager is the chief administrative officer for the City of Brandon Corporation, reporting directly to City Council. This position provides guidance and advice to Council on setting the direction of the City, working closely with local government, Federal and Provincial government officials, and the community at large.
**Key Responsibilities**
* Provide leadership and direction to the City administration
* Advise Council on implementing strategic priorities
* Deal with complex issues in the public sector, including strategic planning, finance, budgeting, accountability, and public policy development
* Ensure the affairs of the City are carried out in accordance with applicable legislation, policies, or plans
**Requirements**
* Bachelor's degree in public administration, business administration, political science, or a related field
* Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible experience in a public sector environment
* At least 5 years in a progressive leadership position
* Proven track record in managing for efficiency and effectiveness of a large and complex local government organization
* Excellent knowledge of effective management and leadership practices
