At Edgewater Plants Inc., we are seeking a skilled Nursery Manager to oversee the daily operations of our nursery. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a team of staff, ensuring the health and quality of our plants, and maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Staff Management: Hire, train, and supervise a team of staff to ensure the smooth operation of the nursery.
- Plant Care: Determine the type and quantity of stock to grow, control reported insect, disease, and weed problems, and ensure the health and quality of our plants.
- Work Site Environment: Manage the work site environment to ensure a safe and efficient work environment, including managing hot temperatures, odours, and outdoor conditions.
- Task Management: Establish work schedules, order materials and stock, and supervise staff in planting, transplanting, feeding, and spraying.
Requirements:
- Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
- Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in a nursery or greenhouse setting.
- Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 23 kg (50 lbs) and work in a fast-paced environment.
