The University of Waterloo seeks a skilled Plumber Specialist to join its facilities team. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining complex water systems, HVAC, and other mechanical systems.
Key Responsibilities- Install and repair hot and cold water systems, steam systems, condensate systems, and related equipment and controls.
- Maintain and repair entire drain and sewage systems and fire hydrants.
- Perform assigned work within assigned facilities, including but not limited to:
- Installs, maintains or repairs hot water tanks, steam coils, chilled water coils and lines, valves, water temperature and pressure regulators, and back flow preventors.
- Provides trade and job instruction as well as work direction to other classifications.
- Minimum of an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent.
- Valid Provincial Trade Certification as a Plumber.
- Valid Cross Connection / Backflow Device testing license.
- Minimum five (5) years recent experience as a certified plumber.
- Experience testing backflow devices.
- Work experience within major institutional sector(s), such as education, post-secondary education, medical/hospital or related construction industry, may be preferred.
- Must be customer and team oriented, as well as self-motivated and able to work successfully with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated and in-depth understanding of all related tools and shop equipment.
- Sound knowledge of the trade.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings, make accurate material takeoffs, and write summary reports of condition assessment surveys when necessary.
- Possesses a valid Ontario class 'G' driver's license or equivalent.
