We are seeking a highly skilled Merchant - Confectionary to join our team at Loblaw Companies Limited. As a key member of our merchandising team, you will be responsible for setting promotional plans and building assortments for an assigned portfolio within the Seasonal Confectionary category.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and execute promotional plans to drive sales and revenue growth.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with category vendors and external partners.
- Lead end-to-end promotional programs, including product selection and forecasting, financial impact analysis, pricing decisions, vendor engagement, and evaluation of program success.
- Use data and analytics to build strategic plans that best serve customers and achieve intended financial outcomes.
- Support the Category Director in assortment optimization analysis, planogram design, and in-store merchandising strategies.
- Research the competitive landscape and understand industry benchmarking standards on pricing, assortment, merchandising, promotional activity, and more.
- Provide support by handling the financial performance for the category (profit and loss) and driven health of the category (market share performance).
- Lead and assist vendor program meetings and product costing debates.
- Post-secondary education or equivalent experience.
- A curious and bold approach.
- At least one year's experience as a merchant/buyer, in retail sales, or merchandising.
- Ability to innovate, influence others, and collaborate with many complementary teams.
- Analytical approach and experience using data to make decisions.
- Financial, business, and retail knowledge.
- Skilled in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams, and confidence working with various software platforms.
