Job Title: Instructional Designer I

At MacLean Engineering, we are seeking an experienced Instructional Designer I to join our team. As an Instructional Designer I, you will be responsible for designing and developing innovative learning solutions to support our business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop engaging learning solutions, including e-learning modules, instructor-led training, and blended learning programs.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts, management, and business unit leaders to apply instructional design theories and best practices.
  • Write clear, concise instructional content and maintain learning solutions to ensure accuracy and branding.
  • Assess and identify opportunities for continuous improvement in course content, organization, and format.
  • Work on multiple projects simultaneously and escalate project issues to internal stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain meaningful departmental metrics, schedules, and workflows.
  • Champion training and technical publications process improvement initiatives.
  • Work with management to select and maintain software tools for creating and managing training materials.
  • Lead training activities with stakeholders and examine strategies to address teaching and learning challenges.
  • Consult with internal clients and stakeholders to understand learning needs and define success measures.
Requirements:
  • College diploma or university degree in a related field, such as adult learning and education or psychology.
  • Two years of experience in technical writing and designing, developing, and managing blended learning programs.
  • Experience with course development software, such as Articulate Storyline, Captivate, Camtasia, or PowerPoint.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with senior management.
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles, training needs analysis, instructional design, information design, training methodologies, learning technologies, and evaluation strategies.
Working Conditions:

This is a full-time position in our Sudbury office. You will work in an office environment with access to manufacturing and underground facilities as required. Travel to worksites and company locations is necessary.

This position requires a valid driver's license and clean driver's abstract. You must be able to travel interprovincially and internationally and possess a valid passport for international travel.
