Job Summary

The Corporation of the Town of Ajax is seeking a Seasonal Technical Services Assistant to support the Technical Services section with curb cutting contracts, Road Occupancy inspections and permits, Municipal Consent issuance, and various maintenance contracts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct field inspections, including providing detailed documentation and maintaining records for various deficiencies and hazards.
  • Conduct in-field measurements and mark-ups for curb cutting contracts.
  • Collaborate with utility companies and their contractors, as well as other Town departments.
  • Communicate with contractors and Road Occupancy Permit holders regarding deficiencies and restoration.
  • Assist in addressing resident and community group concerns related to Road Occupancy Permits and Municipal Consents.
  • Provide support with various maintenance contracts.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Education in civil engineering technology is required.
  • Relevant experience in civil engineering and field inspections.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings.
  • Knowledge of the Highway Traffic Act and Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Effective communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Good time management and organization skills.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision and as part of a team.
  • Superior computer skills (Microsoft Word and Excel).
  • Valid Class "G" driver's license in good standing and clear driver's abstract.
  • Ability to provide a current Criminal Record Check satisfactory to the Town of Ajax.

What We Offer

  • Rate of Pay: $25.05 - $28.14 per hour.
  • Hours of Work: 40 hour work week in varying weather conditions, Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • Duration of Employment: Up to 150 days from April to November each year.
  • Probationary Period: Six (6) months.
