Nomic Bio is a pioneering company that aims to make biology easier to measure. Our team combines DNA nanotechnology, high-dimensional flow cytometry, laboratory automation, and machine learning to develop the world's highest throughput proteomic platform: the nELISA.
Since spinning out of McGill University, we have partnered with and provided platform access to dozens of drug discovery groups, including GSK, 4 of the top 10 pharmas, and leading biotechs. We have recently launched a state-of-the-art manufacturing and protein profiling facility that enables multiplexed measurement of >2.5M samples a year, generating an effective 500M protein assays in the process.
Job DescriptionWe are seeking a highly skilled R&D Engineer to join our Data team. As a key member of our team, you will design, build, operate, and improve the data pipelines needed for analyzing nELISA data at scale. Your primary responsibility will be to develop core improvements to the data pipelines and data algorithms we use for processing all things nELISA data.
You will work closely with our Data Engineering, Software Engineering, and Lab R&D teammates to develop robust data pipelines for decoding nELISA datasets, generating advanced and application-specific bioinformatic pipelines to help customers understand their unique datasets, and developing improved internal-facing tools that will let us execute faster in the lab by extracting insights from our nELISA profiling and manufacturing QC data on-demand.
Responsibilities- Design, build, and iterate on data pipelines and algorithms for processing raw flow cytometry data from our highly multiplexed bead-based assays into quantitative protein measurements.
- Leverage your fundamental knowledge of biosensors, fluorescence data, and bioengineering R&D to act as an expert for the interpretation and analysis of nELISA experimental data coming from R&D and day-to-day Lab Operations.
- Support R&D and Lab Operations teams through developing additional data support features and algorithms to support the growth of Nomic Bio going forward.
- Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams to ensure that our data pipelines and algorithms meet the needs of our customers and stakeholders.
- PhD degree in bioengineering or a related field of study, or equivalent experience in industry.
- 3+ years of experience specifically with analyzing bioscience data and developing improved data processing algorithms.
- 2+ years of software engineering/development experience.
- Statistical skills including Bayesian statistics, sampling methods, mixed models, and other statistical concepts.
- Highly proficient in proteomic tools and their associated methods.
