Project Overview

The Valley Line West LRT project is a 14-kilometer light rail transit line that will connect downtown Edmonton to Lewis Farms. The project involves the design and construction of the light rail system, as well as associated infrastructure such as roads, bridges, and utilities.

Role and Responsibilities

The Field Quality Coordinator will play a key role in ensuring the quality of the project by reviewing construction performance, identifying variances, and implementing corrective actions. They will also ensure early identification and documentation of non-conformities through regular surveillance audits, site walk-downs, and other quality control activities.

The successful candidate will support external ISO 9001 registration and assessment audit programs and hold project teams accountable for quality control program requirements. They will perform regular surveillance audits to ensure adherence to the ITP program and monitor and evaluate subcontractors' performance. The successful candidate will also verify project requirements are specified to vendors and contractors and review material receiving processes to ensure conformance with approved submittals.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, the Field Quality Coordinator must have a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business, or Quality discipline or related field (or equivalent work experience) and at least 4+ years of related work experience in the field of Quality. The successful candidate will have good knowledge and experience in problem-solving methodology and performance of root cause analysis (i.e., Six Sigma).

They will also have knowledge of Canadian Building Codes, CSA, and ASTM codes and experience interpreting codes and specifications. The successful candidate will have thorough knowledge of general construction methods and construction codes and ability to accurately read and interpret design documents. Additionally, they will understand how to research and locate manufacturer's product data and installation guidelines.
