Position: Family Lawyer
Responsibilities:
- Independently manage family law and general practice files, ensuring timely and effective resolution of complex matters.
- Handle a wide range of family law matters, including separation agreements, spousal maintenance, and asset division, with a focus on negotiation and mediation.
- Conduct hearings, discoveries, mediations, and trials, utilizing strong communication and interpersonal skills to achieve successful outcomes.
- Instruct support staff and receive instructions from clients, maintaining a high level of professionalism and discretion.
- Draft pleadings and speak to chamber applications, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
- Negotiate at mediations and appear at trials, leveraging expertise in family law and mediation to achieve favorable results.
- Manage all aspects of a file from beginning to end, including research, analysis, and strategy development.
- Experience in general civil litigation is an asset, as it enhances the ability to handle complex and diverse cases.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years of current experience in British Columbia family law practice, with a strong understanding of local laws and regulations.
- Ability to handle challenging work and manage files independently, with a high level of autonomy and self-motivation.
- Strong judgment, work ethic, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Desire to become part of the community served, with a commitment to providing exceptional service and support.
- Enthusiasm for growing practice and working towards partnership, with a focus on career development and advancement.
Compensation:
