Colas Western Canada Inc. is a leading integrated road construction and materials manufacturing company with over 30 years of experience in building roads in British Columbia and the Yukon Territory.

We operate through decentralized business centers, providing a wide range of services including road construction, asphalt paving, aggregate production, hot mix asphalt, and ready-mix concrete supply.

Our company acts as a general contractor on civil construction projects, including excavation, utilities, concrete placement, sidewalks, and curbs, and in all kinds of road construction-related activities.

Job Summary

We are seeking a Labourer to join our team in Kitimat, BC. As a Labourer, you will be responsible for performing general laborer duties associated with road construction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform general laborer duties associated with road construction.
  • Shovel, rake, and handle other small tools as required.
  • Operate equipment as needed.
  • Clean up equipment as needed.
  • May be called upon to run small power tools.
  • Signal operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment and movement of materials.
  • Assist in the placement, moving, and dismantling of signs, barricades, cones, and other traffic control devices.
  • Follow instructions from your supervisor or manager.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Class 5 Driver's License or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience on a road construction crew is an asset.

Working Conditions

  • Work is performed in an outdoor setting, which could include inclement weather, heat, and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.
  • Must be physically able to repetitively lift and carry at least 50 LBS on a regular basis.
  • Use of Personal Protection Equipment is required.
  • Must comply with the company's drug and alcohol testing requirements.
