Job Summary

The Waterloo Catholic District School Board is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Child and Youth Care Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our student services department, you will play a vital role in supporting the needs of our students and ensuring their safety and well-being.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with special education teachers and school administrators to develop and implement individualized programs for students with diverse needs.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of crisis management plans to ensure a safe and supportive learning environment.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress and behavior.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff to ensure seamless support and services.
  • Provide constant supervision and support to students, utilizing proactive strategies to de-escalate negative behavior.
  • Assist with daily behavior management programs and participate in Collaborative Team meetings and Case Conferences as required.
Requirements
  • Three-year Child and Youth Care Worker college diploma.
  • One to two years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a school setting.
  • BMS (Behavioural Management System) and PMAB (Prevention & Management of Aggressive Behaviour) certifications are assets.
  • Excellent decision-making skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • First Aid Certificate is an asset.
  • Experience supporting students with autism is highly desirable.
  • A reliable vehicle and valid Ontario driver's license are assets, as travel throughout the Waterloo Region may be required.
Working Conditions

This is a part-time position, with a variable schedule that may include evenings and weekends. The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with a focus on providing exceptional support and services to students and families.
