Job Summary: As a Respiratory Therapist I, you will provide respiratory care to patients in Adult ICU/ER/Floors/Bronchoscopy Suite, assessing their needs and developing individualized care plans. You will work collaboratively with various clinical teams to enhance clinical outcomes and educate patients and their families about diseases, medications, and treatments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • ">
  • Assess patient needs and develop individualized respiratory therapy care plans">
  • Provide respiratory care to patients in Adult ICU/ER/Floors/Bronchoscopy Suite">
  • Collaborate with various clinical teams to enhance clinical outcomes">
  • Train and assist healthcare providers in the use and care of respiratory equipment">
  • Educate patients and their families about diseases, medications, and treatments">

Required Qualifications:

The ideal candidate should have:

">

  • ">
  • Active or eligible registration with the College and Association of Respiratory Therapists of Alberta (CARTA)">
  • Graduate from a recognized School of Respiratory Therapy and eligible to write, or have passed, the National Respiratory Certification Exam as administered by the Canadian Board for Respiratory Care (CBRC)">
  • Maintaining current active registration in good standing with CARTA throughout the duration of employment">
  • Maintaining current basic life support (BLS-HCP) certification and providing proof of active certification annually">
  • Demonstrated clarity in communication, organization, and consistency of ideas, both verbally and written, including clinical documentation">
  • Able to prioritize and complete assigned tasks effectively">
  • Reliable worker who uses time effectively">

  • Current acute care experience in a tertiary teaching hospital">
  • Oriented to the position's major and minor clinical areas">
  • Current charge therapist experience">
  • Experience precepting students">
  • Developing quality initiatives and implementing practice change">
  • Active participation on committees">
  • Certification in Advanced Life Support, Arterial Line Insertion, Intubation, and IV Insertion">
  • Current member of Rapid Response team">
