Position Overview
We are in search of a Senior R&D Engineer to become a vital part of our innovative R&D Packaging and Sellable Product team. In this role, you will take charge of the design, development, and execution of packaging solutions for our products while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, including Marketing, Regulatory Affairs, and Supply Chain, to formulate strategies for effective product commercialization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee multiple packaging design initiatives to support new product development and ongoing improvement projects.
- Establish packaging specifications based on insights from Voice of Customer (VOCs), business needs, and regulatory requirements.
- Employ CAD software and prototyping methods to develop and refine packaging designs.
- Assess new packaging designs through rigorous testing to ensure they meet performance standards.
- Generate Design History File (DHF) and Device Master Record (DMR) documentation to maintain design control and risk management for packaging development.
- Work collaboratively across departments to devise strategies that facilitate regulatory approval and commercialization of products in various markets.
- Independently organize and manage activities to adhere to project timelines and deliverables.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers within the team.
- Assist in investigations related to packaging non-conformances and Corrective and Preventative Actions (CAPAs) as necessary.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in packaging engineering, ideally within the medical device sector.
- Expertise in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks) and packaging design tools.
- Comprehensive knowledge of packaging materials, processes, and manufacturing techniques.
- Understanding of packaging testing standards (e.g., ISTA 3A, ASTM D4169).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities (both verbal and written).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with the design control process in accordance with ISO 13485.
- Outstanding project management capabilities with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
