Job Description
Under the general supervision of the Charge Technologist or designate, the Medical Laboratory Assistant is responsible for assisting the laboratory in sample triaging, accessioning, and processing of specimens. They may also perform basic routine procedures according to established protocols. The MLA will perform phlebotomies according to departmental policy and maintain a safe environment in accordance with professional and provincial guidelines.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- A previous related experience is preferred.
- Completed Grade 12 or equivalent, Manitoba Standards, is required.
- Completion of a Medical Laboratory Assistant program is preferred.
- The Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) Medical Laboratory Assistant Certification is preferred.
Work Arrangement
This position requires working in person at the designated workplace. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred for security checks.
