About the Role:
The Director of Care at Southbridge Care Homes is a leadership position responsible for overseeing the nursing department and ensuring the delivery of high-quality resident care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement nursing department initiatives and functions to improve resident care and outcomes.
- Lead the coordination and implementation of best practice and risk management initiatives related to resident care.
- Effectively manage the utilization of nursing supplies and resources.
- Maintain a system of care assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation at the resident and unit program level.
- Provide mentorship and oversight to nursing staff to ensure the provision of quality resident care.
- Investigate and address occupational health and safety concerns, including WSIB claims and return-to-work plans.
- Participate in special projects, reviews, and other initiatives to drive continuous improvement.
- Assume responsibility for the nursing department and ensure its effective operation.
Requirements:
- Current certificate of competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse.
- A passion for caring for seniors and a commitment to delivering high-quality resident care.
- Experience with WSIB management and occupational health and safety principles.
- Experience with falls and harm reduction strategies is an asset.
- Previous experience in long-term care is an asset, with comprehensive knowledge of duties.
- Ability to work individually and as part of a team, prioritizing tasks in order of urgency.
- Excellent communication and comprehension skills.
- Developed creative problem-solving skills to address complex care issues.
