Job Title: Process Control Specialist

Located in Whitecourt, Alberta Newsprint Company (ANC) is a leading paper mill operator with a non-unionized workforce. Our mill produces high-quality paper that sets the standard for the industry.

About the Role

We are seeking a full-time, permanent Process Control Specialist to join our systems department. As a key member of our team, you will analyze, identify, and design process improvements to enhance the quality, efficiency, yield, and safety of our paper manufacturing process.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement advanced process control strategies to optimize mill performance.
  • Collaborate with the Automation, Technology and Systems Manager to design and implement process improvements.
  • Lead the implementation of IIoT practices and control system upgrades.
  • Participate in technical reviews and troubleshoot process control system issues.
  • Stay up-to-date with company policies, procedures, and regulatory standards to provide expert support.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Process Control.
  • At least 5 years of experience in the process industry, preferably in pulp and paper.
  • Expertise in advanced process control strategies, loop tuning methods, and real-time optimization.
  • Knowledge of OT/IT manufacturing best practices, industrial automation cybersecurity, and industrial communication protocols.
  • Experience with DCS and PLC configurations, historian integration, and computer virtualization.
