About the Role

Our Business Data & Design team is seeking a Business Analyst with experience in financial systems, specifically with a transactional data warehouse. Reporting to the Vice President of the Finance, Transformation & Systems team, the Senior Business Analyst will be part of one of the teams working together to deliver both large projects and small enhancements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead or support requirement gathering meetings with financial or technical experts and translate requirements into clear documentation.
  • Perform data queries and data analysis, challenge requirements and find solutions to integrate new data flows or update existing ones.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop, design and document data integration and transformation solutions that meet business requirements.
  • Give presentations at peer reviews, executive meetings or to technical experts to identify the best solutions and deliver functional requirements for development.
  • Monitor progress, list work to be done, meet deadlines and update the work-management tool accordingly.
  • Deliver the results expected by business and technical stakeholders to meet testing requirements. Support the test team with certain validations and data preparation.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, information systems management, business intelligence, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Studies/minor in finance or accounting, an asset.
  • At least seven years of relevant experience in a business analyst role for a finance or financial systems team.
  • Excellent communication skills to gather clear and complete requirements, summarize them and present them to colleagues and management.
  • Strong understanding of ETL principles, data elements, data structures and data modelling.
  • Knowledge of databases, as well as financial IT and technology systems (data warehousing, SQL, SAS, ETL tools, ERP systems such as Oracle, SAP, etc.).
  • Proficiency with Office , Excel, Visio, Jira, RDBMS (e.g., Toad, MS SQL server).
  • CPA designation and IFRS17 experience, an asset.
  • Knowledge of P&C insurance industry, a definite asset.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage several projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to learn quickly.
  • Strong analytical skills, insight and discipline.
  • Leadership skills, ability to work efficiently, independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to interact with a variety of people at all levels of the organization, including management and external contributors.
  • No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.
  • For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism is required considering the necessity to interact on a regular basis with English-speaking colleagues across the country
