About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Farm Laborer to join our team at Derek Mitchell Farms Ltd. as a permanent employee.

Key Responsibilities
  • Crop Management: Plant, cultivate, and irrigate crops to ensure optimal growth and yield.
  • Fertilization and Pest Control: Fertilize and spray crops to promote healthy growth and prevent pests and diseases.
  • Harvesting: Harvest crops at the right time to ensure maximum quality and quantity.
  • Machinery Operation: Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment to ensure efficient and safe operation.
  • General Farm Duties: Perform general farm duties as required, including ensuring farm safety and bio-security procedures are followed.
Work Environment

The successful candidate will work in a rural area, surrounded by rolling hills and picturesque countryside. The work site environment is a hay farm, where the candidate will be responsible for managing crops and equipment.

Requirements
  • Education: No degree, certificate, or diploma is required, but experience is an asset.
  • Language: English is the primary language spoken in the workplace.
  • Work Hours: The successful candidate will work 40 to 60 hours per week, depending on the needs of the farm.
Equipment and Machinery Experience
  • Haying Equipment: The successful candidate will have experience operating haying equipment, including tractors and balers.
