Job Title: Certified Dental Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled Certified Dental Assistant to join our team at Nursing & Homemakers Inc.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing patients for dental examinations, preparing plaster models and moulds, and supervising dental assistants in their healthcare functions.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare patients for dental examinations
  • Prepare plaster models and moulds
  • Supervise dental assistants in their healthcare functions
  • Train other dental laboratory assistants
  • Cast gold or metal alloys for bridges and denture bases
  • Order dental and office supplies
  • Perform administrative functions for the dental laboratory
  • Prepare dental instruments and filling materials
  • Maintain and order supplies
  • Mould wax over dentures set-up
  • Perform reception and clerical duties
  • Sterilize and maintain instruments and equipment
  • Educate patients concerning oral hygiene
  • Finish metal framework of dentures
  • Supervise students in training
  • Prepare wax bite-blocks and impression trays
  • Schedule and confirm appointments
  • Pack plastic material in moulds to form full or partial dentures
  • Take and develop X-rays
  • Record dental procedures performed on patients
  • Invoice patients for dental services
Requirements
  • Membership in the Canadian Dental Assistants Association
  • Technical expertise in plastering, packing, waxing-up, casting, and assembly
  • Computer and technology knowledge in MS Excel and MS Word
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, under pressure, with tight deadlines, and repetitive tasks
  • Manual dexterity, attention to detail, and ability to distinguish between colours
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, and perform physical tasks
Working Conditions

The successful candidate will work in a dental practice, with a combination of sitting, standing, and walking. The work environment will be fast-paced, with tight deadlines and repetitive tasks.
