Job Overview

As an Electrical Instrumentation Specialist at Apotex, you will ensure the safe operation of electrical systems and equipment.

You will carry out electrical repairs, calibration, and maintenance across all facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, repair, maintain, calibrate, and modify building electrical power distribution systems in a timely manner.
  • Calibrate production and facility instruments to ensure accuracy and precision.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex electrical issues with interlocking or inter-related circuits.
  • Utilize test instruments to diagnose problems, determine electrical load, and assess power quality.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, maintain, and modify pneumatic control systems.
  • Compile and maintain documentation relevant to building systems, including CMMS, Ontario Hydro Log Book, change control, and drawings.
  • Collaborate with users, facilities staff, and vendors to provide electrical expertise and evaluate system effectiveness.
  • Arrange contracted services as needed and supervise work on electrical systems and equipment.
  • Determine the impact of work and communicate with department management to schedule activities minimizing production schedule disruptions.
  • Evaluate and ensure all electrical work adheres to respective codes.
  • Work from blueprints, drawings, layouts, or specifications; locate and diagnose electrical system or equipment trouble.
  • Follow manufacturer's manuals for tracing complicated circuitry in equipment.
  • Implement temporary alterations to allow continued safe operations.
  • Operate standard electricians' hand tools, measuring and testing instruments, conduit bender, power hacksaw, pipe-threader.
  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices, Standard Operating Procedures, Work Instructions, and established safety standards.
  • Contribute to team efforts to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Perform work aligned with our Corporate Values: Pride, Accountability, Integrity, and Diligence; demonstrate strong support for our values.
  • Comply with established regulatory and compliance requirements and safety standards.
  • Pursue assigned Continuous Improvement projects within required timelines; complete PDCA templates and present results during biweekly report-out meetings.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 combined with a current Ontario Industrial Electrician and/or Construction and Maintenance Electrician License.
  • At least five years previous electrical maintenance experience with instrumentation and control expertise is essential.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated initiative and self-motivation.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
