Job Summary

The 1st Officer is a key member of the ship's crew, responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the vessel. This role requires a high level of expertise and experience in maritime cargo operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Captain in the management of the ship's cargo operations, including loading and unloading of cargo.
  • Ensure the stability and safety of the ship during cargo operations.
  • Monitor and control the ship's ballast and cargo operations.
  • Collaborate with the ship's crew to ensure the smooth operation of the vessel.

Requirements

  • STCW II/2 certification.
  • 1st Officer of the Watch certification or higher.
  • Generic SVCEI training.
  • Passenger Bridge Resource Management training (an asset).
  • Valid marine medical certificate.
  • STCW Firefighting and Advanced Firefighting certifications.
  • At least 4 months of experience as a 1st Officer and 16 months of experience as a Deck Officer on cargo ships.
  • Proficiency in English (working language).
