Job Summary

Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a highly skilled Speech Language Pathologist to join their team in Powell River, Bella Bella, and Bella Coola. As a key member of the interdisciplinary team, you will be responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating adults with acquired communication disorders and dysphagia.

About the Role

This is a challenging yet rewarding role that requires strong clinical skills, effective communication, and the ability to work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals. You will have the opportunity to work in various settings, including hospitals, clinics, and community centers, and will be required to develop and deliver presentations, provide consultation, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with other healthcare professionals.

Responsibilities
  • Assess, diagnose, and treat adults with acquired communication disorders and dysphagia
  • Develop and deliver presentations to clients, families, and healthcare teams
  • Provide consultation to healthcare professionals on communication and swallowing disorders
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other healthcare professionals
  • Work collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary team
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A master's degree in speech-language pathology or a related field
  • Current full registration with the College of Speech and Hearing Professionals of British Columbia
  • Three years' recent, related speech language practice dealing with adults with acquired communication disorders and dysphagia
  • Demonstrated ability to perform clinical assessments either in person or via virtual electronic/computerized methods
  • Valid B.C. Driver's License as local area travel requires the use of a vehicle, for which mileage will be reimbursed in accordance with the current collective agreement
Salary and Benefits

The salary for this role is estimated to be between CAD $42.27/Hr. - CAD $52.81/Hr., depending on experience. In addition to a competitive salary, Vancouver Coastal Health offers a comprehensive benefits package, including MSP, extended health and dental, and municipal pension plan.

Location

You will be based in Powell River, Bella Bella, or Bella Coola, with opportunities to work in various settings across the region.
