AECOM is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Arborist to join our Ontario Ecology Team. As an Arborist, you will play a critical role in supporting our existing activities and growing our capacity to serve clients on challenging and exciting projects across the province.
Key Responsibilities- Support a field crew to undertake data collection and field investigations related to tree inventories in urban and remote sites in southern and central Ontario and Canada.
- Conduct tree health assessments, complete arborist reports and tree preservation plans, and have experience with tree removal and injury permit applications.
- Prepare, coordinate, and conduct field work, and complete associated data analysis and reporting.
- Travel to complete field work across southwestern Ontario, the GTA, and other areas of Ontario and Canada.
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in environmental science or biology, from a recognized University or College or equivalency.
- At least 2 years of relevant experience.
- Arborist Certification.
- Knowledge of and experience with the application of tree by-laws and policies across southern and central Ontario.
- Strong technical capability in identifying flora of southern and central Ontario and ability to apply/use dichotomous keys.
- Demonstrated experience conducting fieldwork in southern and central Ontario.
- Experience with air photo interpretation (hard/soft copy), Global Positioning Systems, and map and compass orientation.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as independently.
- Ability to work in both field and office environments.
- Valid Ontario Drivers License.
- Valid Standard First Aid + CPR.
- Efficient in the use of cell phones, laptops, tablets, and other technical devices.
