BMT Defence Services LTD is seeking a skilled Senior Marine Engineer to join our team. As a Senior Marine Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting the International Submarine Program Manager in managing activities, delivering projects, and providing technical knowledge within the scope of their program.

This role involves long-term deployment at one of our overseas client sites, where you will provide technical leadership and oversight to a team of experienced engineers and technologists. Your tasks will include:

  1. Reviewing and preparing briefs at all levels (internal to BMT and to the client).
  2. Delivering presentations to stakeholders.
  3. Identifying technical and program risks.
  4. Developing work schedules.
  5. Providing engineering design and construction advice and consultancy.
  6. Participating in multi-disciplinary project teams in support of client taskings.
  7. Proactively interacting with clients to develop a thorough understanding of their needs.

You will also ensure that all work is undertaken in accordance with the project statement of work and is checked in accordance with the relevant project and/or BMT Quality Procedure.

About Our Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of $120,000 - $145,000 per year, plus a wide range of benefits including health, family, finance, and personal development opportunities.

About You

We are looking for an enthusiastic and flexible individual who possesses the following knowledge, experience, and skills:

  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in a marine engineering environment.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a submarine engineering environment.
  • Experience within complex maritime design programs.
  • Experience in systems integration, ship construction, and/or repair.
  • Leadership experience in a maritime program.
  • An understanding of standards for government and commercial vessels.
  • Experience working in the Defence industry, preferably shipbuilding or ship repair.
  • Ability to manage and lead peers without direct authority.
  • Ability to influence and earn the respect of clients.
  • Proficient user of Microsoft 365 suite of projects (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Task Boards, Teams).
  • A provincial license for practicing as a Professional Engineer.
  • Eligibility for a Canadian security clearance.
