Salary

The estimated annual salary for this position is approximately $80,000 to $110,000 CAD, depending on experience.

Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Geochemist with a strong background in water quality to join our Environmental Services team. As a senior geochemist, you will contribute to various projects, including environmental assessments, models, and monitoring programs related to mining.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the geochemical and water quality components of projects, including environmental assessments, models, and monitoring programs;
  • Interpreting and analyzing geochemical and water quality data to provide technical support for water resource and environmental projects;
  • Performing research related to specific technical issues or projects;
  • Collaborating with other scientific and engineering professionals within the practice;
  • Preparing technical reports and performing QA/QC of technical documents;
  • Data analysis and data visualization through the use of technical software;
  • Execution of related proposal development and project task financial and schedule management.

You will have a fluent understanding of Canadian and provincial water quality guidelines, legislation, regulations, licensing, and permitting, particularly relating to mining in British Columbia.

A valid driver's license is required, and you may be required to travel to lead field crews, perform environmental monitoring, or participate in off-site meetings with clients and/or regulatory agencies.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you must have:

  • A minimum of 7 years of relevant consulting experience in the mining sector, including mine waste geochemistry assessment, water quality predictions, water quality modeling, or the assessment of water quality impacts;
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, including the ability to communicate solutions in writing, verbally, and graphically;
  • A solid computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, as well as knowledge of water chemistry and contaminant transport modeling software, GIS, three-dimensional visualization software, Excel, database software, etc.
