Design Technician

MOBIA is seeking a skilled Design Technician to support our design team in creating accurate and efficient network designs. As a key member of our team, you will work closely with engineers and designers to translate concepts into products, ensuring adherence to project specifications.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collect and analyze engineering data, evaluating and interpreting field surveys to inform design decisions.
  • Design access network facilities using standard technologies, establishing project milestones for service delivery.
  • Develop engineering drawings and reports to industry standards, including CSA & ESA 22/04.
  • Analyze pole lines for conductor spacing, separation, clearance, and physical element strength under ice and wind loading, using CSA standards.
  • Ensure design drawings and calculation packages are completed by appropriate deadlines.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Requirements:
  • Completion of related post-secondary education, such as a Bachelor of Engineering or Diploma in Civil Engineering.
  • Excellent software skills, with a high attention to detail.
  • Experience working with Quick Pole, SPIDACalc, and/or PLS-CADD.
  • Customer service-focused individuals who take pride in delivering high-quality products.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills.
  • Knowledge of Telecommunication outside the plant is an asset.
  • Previous experience in the electrical or telecom field designing aerial and underground networks is an asset.
  • Experience with QGIS and AutoCAD is an asset.
