About the Role

Ainsworth, a subsidiary of GDI, is seeking an experienced Electrical Distribution Design Manager to join our team. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for overseeing and reviewing designs and technical aspects of utility distribution projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage internal and external resources, including engineers, contractors, and suppliers, to ensure the successful completion of projects.
  • Maintain relationships with customers, utilities, suppliers, and external stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Create and review Utility electrical distribution designs, including overhead and underground systems, to ensure constructability and compliance with designs.
  • Review construction in the field to ensure compliance with designs and identify areas for improvement.
  • Manage projects to maximize company revenue and minimize cost on all construction, operations, and maintenance activities.
  • Coordinate work with stakeholders, including customers, utilities, property managers, and internal groups, to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Build job aids to train new hires and Co-op students, and ensure that all job functions are performed safely and healthily.
  • Adhere to the Company's Quality System operating procedures and ensure that all projects meet the required standards.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in electrical distribution design.
  • Professional Engineer designation in Ontario (preferred).
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, with a focus on Power Systems.
  • Extensive knowledge of electrical distribution systems and pole-loading analysis.
  • Experience with construction management and project management.
  • Ability to manage staff and contractors, and communicate effectively with customers, field staff, reporting staff, co-op students, and managers.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, and proficiency in MS Office.
