About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Asphalt Plant Groundperson to join our team at Colas Western Canada Inc. in Crescent Valley, BC. As a key member of our road construction team, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of our asphalt plant, maintaining equipment, and ensuring the timely delivery of materials.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safely unload hot oil from delivery trucks
  • Perform daily maintenance and safety checks of equipment
  • Operate front-end loader, skid steer, or other heavy equipment
  • Inspect and grease asphalt conveyors, and ensure equipment is functioning properly
  • Shovel asphalt and other plant materials
  • Responsible for plant production of materials, and ensures the efficient working condition of the plant
  • Ensure the timely delivery of oil, fuel, aggregates, and supplies to the plant
  • Assists with stockpiling materials and feed the plant from the stockpiles in an efficient and productive manner
  • Operate front-end loader, skid steer, or other heavy equipment
  • Perform set up and take down of plants at different job sites as required
  • Perform other related duties as required
Requirements
  • Minimum 2 to 3 years' experience within the road construction industry
  • 1 to 2 years as an Asphalt Plant Labourer, preferred
  • Valid class 5 driver's license and clean current driver's abstract
  • Basic knowledge of mechanics and equipment repair
  • Knowledge of welding equipment, tools, and methods
