Seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as an Earthquake Seismology Researcher in the Department of Earth & Environmental Sciences at the University of Ottawa, Canada.

About the Role:

We invite applications for two fully funded graduate positions (Ph.D. or M.Sc.) to work on projects related to the study of lithosphere structure and dynamics at the Hikurangi (New Zealand) and Cascadia (western Canada) subduction zones.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement data processing tools combined with modern, statistical learning-based methods to investigate seismicity and seismic velocity structure of the lithosphere
  • Evaluate, understand, interpret, and compare seismicity and seismic velocity models
  • Interact with scientists from different disciplines, communicate, and disseminate results at conferences and through publications
Requirements:
  • Completed M.Sc. (or equivalent) in Geophysics, Geosciences, Physics, Civil or Mining Engineering or related fields
  • Programming experience is an asset

The successful candidate will be expected to submit a formal application for either the MSc or PhD program in Earth Sciences at the University of Ottawa before February 1st. Interviews will take place the week of December 16th.

A competitive salary of CAD $60,000 per year, plus benefits, is offered for this position.
