Grand River Foods, a leading food solutions company, seeks a Financial Modeling Specialist to join its divisional estimation team. About Us

We take great care with our clients and employees alike, reporting to the Costing & Estimation Supervisor. The ideal candidate will have a background in cost accounting and financial modeling, understanding cost drivers and product costing fundamentals. Experience in a manufacturing setting is preferred, as well as the ability to collaborate with different departments across the business.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with internal teams to understand and estimate relevant costs involved in production and delivery of new and existing products.
  • Review and assess product and process requirements on cost inputs, including potential capital investments and significant expenses related to projects.
  • Develop pricing recommendations based on internal metrics, including financial thresholds, similar products, and competitive requirements.
  • Support other functional areas in quantifying cost impacts from product and process design.
  • Collaborate with other departments in validating and sourcing data.
  • Coordinate and monitor projects involving cross-functional teams to achieve customer-focused deadlines.
  • Critically evaluate and review estimates for accuracy and completeness.
  • Perform financial variance review of plant trial performance against financial estimates and provide support for relevant corrective actions.
  • Continually evaluate the cost estimation process for areas of improvement.
  • Identify and recommend opportunities for improved cost control and cost reduction.
  • Coordinate with finance, procurement, and product development team members in creating and updating ERP bills of material (BOM) and routings.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business.
  • A minimum of 2 years of cost accounting and/or estimating experience required, with a multi-site, multi-sku manufacturing and/or food processing background preferred.
  • Achieved or working towards a professional designation (CPA) is preferred but not required.
  • Experience working with ERP systems, more specifically with bills of material (BOM), routings, and MRP concepts.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Excel and estimation/quoting tools.
  • Strong communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Team player with exceptional ability to establish and maintain quality relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask and manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Strong work ethic and a demonstrated ability to deliver results within agreed-to timelines.
  • High attention to detail.

The estimated annual salary for this role is $65,000 - $80,000.
