Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our Cardiac Services team at Jim Pattison Outpatient Care & Surgery Centre in Surrey, BC. In this role, you will be responsible for providing direct patient care, assessing, planning, and evaluating nursing care in an outpatient clinic setting.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Preadmission screening of surgical patients to ensure they can proceed with scheduled surgery.
  • Assessing patients referred to designated clinical outpatient clinics and collecting information from various sources using observation, communication, data review, and physical assessment skills.
  • Making a nursing diagnosis of the patient's condition and determining whether it can be improved or resolved by appropriate nursing intervention.

You will work collaboratively with the interprofessional care team to provide comprehensive care planning and delivery. Your excellent communication and interpersonal skills will enable you to effectively communicate with patients, families, caregivers, and other healthcare professionals.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • Graduation from an approved Nursing Program recognized by the Canadian Nurses' Association with current practicing registration as a British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Two (2) years' recent, related experience in the education, monitoring, and management of participants in cardiac prevention and rehabilitation, including exercise training and experience with ECG Telemetry monitoring.
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certification.
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification.
