Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly skilled Character Animator to join our team at SHED. As a Character Animator, you will be responsible for bringing characters to life in 3D animation projects.

  • Interpret storyboards and work from 3D layout scenes to create engaging character animations.
  • Collaborate with the rigging team to ensure seamless character movement and performance.
  • Export alembics for the lighting and simulations department to enhance the overall visual effect.
  • Maintain continuity of actions from shot to shot to ensure a cohesive visual experience.
  • Work closely with the director and supervisors to execute corrections and recommendations.
  • Organize work and prepare presentation materials for approvals.
  • Provide progress reports to supervisors and producers as needed.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A degree in a 3D animation program or a traditional 2D animation program.
  • Experience in film, advertising, or television production.
  • Experience in character animation on 3D animation projects.
  • Excellent knowledge of character animation principles, performance, posing, timing, weight, and lip sync.
  • Knowledge of rigging and Shotgrid.
  • An ease with the Windows environment.
Tools and Environment

You will be working with Maya and Studio Library, and will be part of a small group of animation specialists. Depending on the project, you will either take full responsibility for these tasks or share them with colleagues around the world.
