Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Health Care Aide to join our Acute Care nursing team at Alberta Health Services. As a Health Care Aide, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and support services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide personal assistance and support services to patients who require short-term assistance or ongoing support, in accordance with the patient care plan and facility policies and procedures.
  • Work closely with patients, families, and caregivers to assist with routine care and meet patients' hygiene, nutrition, mobility, recreation, and safety needs.
  • Assist nurses with the provision of care and support services, including organized activities and programs.
  • Observe and report on patients' mood, health, and wellbeing to healthcare professionals.
  • Maintain a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors, and communicate effectively with patients and healthcare professionals.
Requirements
  • Completion of Health Care Aide Certificate within 18 months of hire and active directory status on the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the job, including periods of physical activity such as standing, walking, bending, and lifting weights up to 25 kg.
  • Recent Acute Care experience (within the last three years) is an asset.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a geriatric population is an asset.
