The Opportunity

We are seeking a Senior Policy Analyst to join our National Institute on Ageing (NIA) team. The NIA is a leading research and policy organization that improves the lives of older adults and the systems that support them. As a Senior Policy Analyst, you will play a key role in advancing our public policy agenda and promoting the well-being of older adults in Canada.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct policy analysis and research to inform our public policy agenda
  • Develop and implement policy recommendations to support the NIA's mandate and priorities
  • Provide policy advice to the Director and develop policy-specific communications products
  • Lead engagement and outreach activities with stakeholders, partners, and government officials
  • Build and maintain productive relationships with stakeholders and partners
Qualifications
  • Completion of a post-secondary degree in political science, public policy, business administration, economics, or another relevant field
  • Minimum four (4) years' experience in a similar role, preferably within the public sector, not-for-profit organization, or academic institution
  • Experience designing and executing policy research, performing complex analysis, and writing policy documents
  • Knowledge of national and jurisdictional key issues relating to ageing in Canada, such as health, social wellbeing, financial security, housing, and/or poverty alleviation among older adults
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills to prepare and deliver presentations on policy research findings
  • Excellent analytical skills to complete statistical and data analysis
  • Political acuity and ability to successfully engage with senior government officials on policy implications and other sensitive matters
