Research Interviewer

The British Columbia Centre on Substance Use (BCCSU) is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Research Interviewer to join our team. As a member of our multidisciplinary research team, you will be responsible for recruiting and prescreening potential study participants, conducting structured interviews, and assisting with data collection and data entry.
Key Responsibilities
- Recruit potential participants on site and provide information about research studies.
- Prescreen potential research subjects in person according to study protocols and enroll eligible participants.
- Conduct quantitative and qualitative structured interviews with eligible participants on site.
- Adhere to informed consent procedures and ethical guidelines for research involving human subjects.
- Review questionnaires for completeness and accuracy.
- Ensure policies and procedures for data management are followed and all documents are entered and filed as required by ethical guidelines.
- Process participant honoraria, including paying participants and recording honoraria for daily float reconciliation.
Requirements
- High school graduation and some additional training in a related field.
- Minimum two years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including conflict management and crisis resolution skills.
- Organized with meticulous attention to detail and ability to work independently and in a team setting.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and data entry skills.
- Ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in health care, social services, or social sciences.
- Two years' experience in frontline services.
- Experience working with marginalized populations, such as people with substance use disorders, mental health issues, and unstable housing.
- Experience with semi-structured or structured interviewing techniques.
- Research experience or training is an asset.
- Current CPR and naloxone administration training is an asset.
