About the Role: Langford Veterinary Services is seeking a dedicated Clinical Pathologist to enhance our established team of professionals. Our Diagnostic Laboratories, accredited by the ECVCP (European College of Veterinary Clinical Pathology), offer a collaborative environment with expertise in various fields including Haematology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, and Molecular Diagnostics.
Location and Facilities: The Diagnostic Laboratories are strategically situated alongside our first opinion practices and referral hospital, ensuring rapid service delivery and outstanding patient care. This setting allows the successful candidate to engage with a diverse range of animal species and contribute to a multidisciplinary team.
Qualifications: We prefer candidates with a specialist qualification in veterinary clinical pathology, such as Diplomate status from the European or American Colleges of Veterinary Pathology, or a Fellowship from the Royal College of Pathologists. However, we also welcome applications from board-eligible clinical pathologists and those with significant experience (ideally 3 years) in diagnostic clinical pathology. Membership in the RCVS or eligibility for RCVS membership with full working rights in the UK is required.

Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality clinical pathology services to our clients and support the growth of diagnostic services.
- Ensure effective communication with the Diagnostic Laboratories team to meet turnaround times for results.
- Contribute to CPD and training for visitors to the Diagnostic Laboratories as needed.
- Provide exceptional clinical pathology services, including the examination and interpretation of cytological samples and diagnostic results.
- Participate in quality control and the enhancement of diagnostic services.
- Offer guidance to veterinary surgeons, both internal and external, as required.
- Maintain clinical pathology practices in accordance with RCVS standards.
- Engage in interdisciplinary communication during medicine rounds to support the caseload.
- Assist in marketing initiatives to promote the clinical pathology diagnostic service.
- Adhere to all protocols and policies established by Langford Veterinary Services.
- Support clinical research projects in collaboration with university personnel when appropriate.
- Contribute to undergraduate teaching and provide feedback to students during clinical rotations.
- Mentor undergraduate and postgraduate students.
- Participate in training to expand service offerings.
- Identify and act on opportunities for business improvement, fostering a culture of safety and promptly addressing any concerns.
- Complete administrative tasks and respond to reasonable requests from management.
