The Logistics Team plays a crucial role in supporting Canadian Blood Services by employing best practices to ensure the secure transportation of personnel, donors, equipment, blood products, and supplies. Our Transport Specialists do more than drive; in this position, you will assist in preparing booths, tables, and other equipment to ensure mobile donor events are fully operational, in addition to transporting individuals and products vital to Canada's Lifeline.
Key to Success
- Utilizing your driving and transportation experience, you will ensure that blood and blood products are transported in compliance with safety protocols and maintained at the appropriate temperature. You will also prioritize the safety of employees, donors, and/or volunteers traveling with you.
- Drawing on your knowledge of safe transportation practices and your attention to detail, you will perform pre-trip inspections to verify that equipment is functioning correctly and accurately complete all necessary documentation (including electronic logs for hours of service).
- Leveraging your customer service abilities, you will support the collections team by welcoming and assisting donors in booking or rescheduling appointments as needed.
- You will aid in establishing systems and Wi-Fi connections for mobile events by utilizing your familiarity with technology and your ability to learn new programs.
- You will be responsible for preparing, packaging, and shipping blood products to our various Hospital Partners.
- Using your excellent interpersonal and communication skills, you will collaborate with staff to carry and set up/dismantle equipment and supplies. You will also load and unload equipment and supplies at donor center sites and upon return to the center.
Desired Qualifications and Skills
- Completion of high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must possess a valid and current Class 4 driver's license and a clean commercial driver's abstract from within the last 30 days.
- A minimum of 24 months of verifiable professional driving experience as a commercial vehicle driver within the last 3 years.
- Basic computer skills and the ability to learn new systems and programs.
- A willingness to learn procedures in a regulated environment.
- Effective communication skills in English; proficiency in a second language is considered an asset.

What to Expect
- Shifts/hours - must be flexible to accommodate assigned shifts based on operational needs; shift lengths vary according to events at Canadian Blood Services fixed and mobile donor centers. Shifts may include days, evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays.
- No long-haul or cross-border driving is required.
- Travel will be necessary to attend mobile events, with transportation provided by Canadian Blood Services.
- Physical capability to load, unload, push, and carry heavy clinic equipment and supplies, including stooping, kneeling, crouching, and lifting up to 50 lbs, as well as pulling and pushing up to 300 lbs on a wheeled platform.
