About the Opportunity

The Physiotherapy Resident plays a vital role in the Nova Scotia Health Authority's Rehabilitation Services team, working in a tertiary care setting to assess, diagnose, and treat patients with actual or potential impairment, pain, functional limitations, or disabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough medical histories and perform standardized tests to determine physical diagnoses.
  • Develop holistic treatment programs using exercises, education, and various therapy techniques to help patients regain and maintain optimal function.
  • Communicate effectively with healthcare professionals, patients, and families to promote health and manage patient care.
  • Supervise physiotherapy assistants and collaborate with colleagues to achieve team goals and objectives.

About You

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Physiotherapy Resident to join our team. To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A Bachelor's degree or entry-level master's program in Physiotherapy from an accredited university.
  • Membership with the Nova Scotia College of Physiotherapists (provincial licensing body).
  • Strong computer skills, including statistics input, word processing, and Outlook.
  • Annual Cardio-pulmonary Resuscitation certification (BCLS) and WHMIS training and certification.
  • Additional courses or education in specialized areas, such as cardio-respiratory techniques, acupuncture, or stroke rehabilitation.
  • Competencies in other languages, with French being an asset.

Hours

  • Permanent Full-time, 75 hours biweekly.
  • Shifts include days and some weekends.
  • Travel to various sites may be required.

Compensation and Incentives

The successful candidate will receive a competitive hourly rate of $33.97 and may be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
