Position: Business Operations Manager
Role Overview
The Business Operations Manager will autonomously oversee a portfolio of business members within the Mid-Island/Duncan/North Island region, focusing on their deposit and lending needs under the mentorship of a Senior Manager in Small Business Banking. These business clients typically have significant deposit and cash management requirements and are prime candidates for cross-selling additional Coast Capital Savings (CCS) products and services. For borrowing needs, credit limits generally do not exceed $250,000, though they may be higher depending on the security provided. The expected allocation of time across various responsibilities is approximately 90% for Portfolio and Risk Management and 10% for Business Development.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and execute assigned tasks to ensure timely completion while maintaining high-quality standards and exceptional customer service.
- Conduct effective risk monitoring and control for a portfolio of business clients through timely completion of annual credit reviews and ongoing monitoring of banking activities.
- Ensure adherence to compliance and security policies, including audit reviews.
- Manage commercial loans and mortgage exposures accurately by ensuring proper booking of limits in banking systems, along with appropriate security and documentation.
- Enhance quality and profitability of business with existing members and new customers referred by colleagues.
- Build and strengthen customer relationships by effectively onboarding clients to CCS.
- Deepen existing customer relationships through cross-selling of business products.
- Accurately process customer requests within specified timeframes.
- Deliver proactive, friendly, knowledgeable, and professional customer service.
- Prepare documentation for everyday banking, lending, and investment products.
- Identify, document, and report any potential risk issues.
- Understand and comply with all regulatory and compliance requirements.
- Prevent losses due to fraud, counterfeiting, money laundering, or defalcation.
- Develop and expand relationships with existing business members.
- Collaborate actively with other business partners and branch contacts.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 4 to 6 years of relevant experience.
- Experience in financial services, including lending, commercial banking, portfolio management, and business development.
- A Bachelor's Degree in Business/Commerce, MBA, or a relevant designation is preferred.
- Fundamental knowledge of commercial products (credit and deposits).
- Basic understanding of financial statements, accounting principles, and analytical skills.
- Familiarity with commercial credit analysis, policies, security, and legal procedures.
- Basic knowledge of deposit and cash management products.
